Clareville Baton Twirlers

Clareville Baton Twirlers (formally known as Clareville Starlettes) was formed in 1984. Over the years the Club has produced many great twirlers / teams who have enjoyed much success at National, International, World and European competitions.

This success is attributed to the Club having their very own dedicated coaches. At present Yvonne O'Neill and Michelle Reilly are Senior Club Coaches with the Club. Both Coaches have worked for many years with the athletes and have helped develop the athletes into very fine twirlers. Yvonne and Michelle are also Club Directors and are responsible for the day to day running of the club. The Club is at present fortunate to have some senior athletes who are interested in becoming Coaches and who have participated in the Coach Training Programme being held by the Association of Baton Twirling of Ireland (A.B.T.I).

The Club is a member of the Association of Baton Twirling In Ireland since 1992 (when the association was formed). The Association (A.B.T.I) is also a member of the Confederation European De Baton Twirling (C.E.T.B). Athletes from the club have had the privilege of representing their Club, the Association and Country at many European Competitions. Athletes have travelled aboard to countries including Italy, England, Spain, France, Slovenia, Holland and Germany over the last 17 years. In 1997, Clareville’s athletes participated in the European Cup of Clubs in Den Bosch, Holland and successfully achieved Ireland’s first ever award, having being placed 3rd in the Group division. All Group members received a bronze medal.

Prior to 1992, Clareville’s athletes represented Ireland and participated in the World Baton Twirling Federation (W.B.T.F) Championships in 1990 in San Antonio, Texas and again in 1992 in Paris, France.

The Club participates in the A.B.T.I National Championships each year and enjoys taking part in as many open competitions as they can. For the past three years, the Club has travelled to the U.K. Open Competition which is held each year in Scotland and has enjoyed great success at these competitions.

At present Clareville have 4 Judges who attend and Judge at many of the A.B.T.I competitions. Judges participate in all training courses and meetings organised by the A.B.T.I Technical Board.

Clareville Baton Twirlers are based in the Harold’s Cross National School, Clareville Road, Dublin 6. At present the Club has 27 athletes. Ages range from 4 years to 18 years.

This year the Club is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To mark this occasion the Club is planning to hold a celebratory event. Date, venue and all details will be announced on the A.B.T.I. website in the coming months.
